12/18/2023 0 Comments Fl studio alternative redditSforzando is one option, but again, you're at the mercy of the preconfigured settings inside the SFZ file, which is a huge hassle to modify if you like a certain sound but it has unnatural dynamic transitions.ĭSK SF2 is absolutely horrible, it has no ability to control the filter with note velocity, not sure why some people keep recommending it. Just don't set SG higher than 25 or so, or it'll squash your sound too much. Preset A on SG is the only really usable one for using in your master. The presets in Soundgoodizer are also in Maximus's preset list. I'm tempted to decompile these SF2 files and use the wav files themselves to try to create some sort of monstrosity from scratch in Patcher but I'm not sure it'd be a good workflow anyway. Yes, Soundgoodizer is just Maximus, with a very simplified interface. If FL Sampler could use velocity layers and and key ranges, it'd be great because it's super efficient and integrated into FL, and has great envelopes, filter key tracking and lots of ways to control the sound. The problem is, FL has no good sampler that supports multi-samples. Plus better composers than me have made do with even worse, lower quality samples than are even free today. I compressed a 500MB "Yamaha CFx" soundfont to 35MB by using FSLAC, and I wouldn't hesitate to use OGG if it means faster project loading and less RAM usage. The Korg M1 didn't need to be "deeply sampled" to be a classic. I don't mind economical free samples, and there's plenty out there. I don't even like these huge multi-GB libraries. I am completely against the insane prices of sample libraries - Image-Line's own sample bundle costs almost as much as the most expensive edition of FL. And that's not counting the added cost of all these bottom-feeding sample library sellers. Has to be a better way.Īnd Kontakt is out of the question, it costs $520. Fruity Soundfont Player is no longer supported, and still a bit finicky with its filter. And it constantly crashes the 32-bit version of FL, which I rely on. And each time I load different SF2 files, trying to see which one fits better, it screws up the "Note velocity mappings" and I have to reconfigure it each time. I load a 500MB SF2 and it converts it, and eats up 6GB of RAM. I'm completely fed up with DirectWave, it's basically unusable.
